I designed it for those who choose not to use DEET and/or are allergic to citronellal, the active ingredient of citronella, lemon eucalyptus and other citrus scented natural insect repellents. A number of essential oils have been used as insect repellents throughout recorded history.* Of all those used, lavender is probably the safest for use by children under age 3 and pregnant women. Lavender has the added benefit of helping at nap time!
